The Automotive Day, organized by SAENIS and DTU, was conducted in Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Auditorium at the Delhi Technological University on the 22nd of September 2011, in the presence of Dr. P. B. Sharma, Vice Chancellor (D.T.U.) and Prof Dr. S. Maji and Dr. Samsher along with representatives from MSIL and Tata Steel.
The event commenced with felicitation of the invitees which was followed by an opening note by Mr. Sanjay Thakar (GM, Maruti Suzuki and Vice Chairman, Conference & Communications, SAENIS). It was followed by an address by the Vice Chancellor, DTU. The session gave the students an insight into the various aspects of the automotive industry. Thereafter the technical presentations started off with the introduction of Tata Steel group given by Mr. Saurabh Arya who also explained the Steel manufacturing process & the impact of climate change on steel. The final presentation given by Mr. Hitendra Pradhan (Tata Steel) delved into the future trends in Automotive Steels.
The event saw a turnout of close to 300 students. The seminar gave the students an opportunity to interact with the industry and gain valuable insight into the area of Steel making and its application in the automotive context. All-in-all the students found the seminar beneficial not only in terms of technical learning but also networking with the industry.
